Volvo Cars Perth were proud to be a Presenting Partner for the Western Australia Good Food Guide’s Truffles Unearthed Dining Series. The winter series kicked off on June 10th, working with WA producers, chefs, sommeliers and winemakers to celebrate one of Australia’s most luxurious ingredients; the truffle.
As the Truffles Unearthed Series came to a close last Monday at Pappagallo’s, we’re taking a look back at some of the highlights from the series. The seaside launch dinner at Il Lido saw a stunning six-course menu starring Coomer Truffles alongside West Australian produce and wine – which set the bar high for the events to come. Other highlights include the perfectly paired truffle and wine deliciousness at Heritage, contemporary flavours at Cooee and the ventures down to Yallingup for a truffle party at Chows Table, and truffle dog hunt at Cape Lodge where guests were guided by charming Labradors through the gardens, hunting for fresh truffles. And in particular, the introduction of Ben Ing, head chef of Noma in Copenhagen, to the WA dining public at European Concepts was a notable night in the series.
The multitude of trips down south to the Southern Forest’s and beyond was supported by Volvo Cars Perth. The award-winning Volvo XC60 was a standout in the series, allowing the WAGFG team to venture out and meet producers, chefs and host events. The XC60 was also the perfect vehicle to make the cold journey down to Manjimup – the heart of Australian truffle country to celebrate all things truffles at the all indulgent Truffle Kerfuffle Festival.
